To most of people, visiting Cairo International Book Fair usually ends up with them being totally worn out and in a sheer state of exhaustion, which is mainly due to their poorly-planned agenda for the day. To spare you, we highlighted 5 of the most useful spots that you should visit while wandering amongst the fair’s numerous venues.


1- Dar El-Shorouk

If you favor the sophisticated writings of Naguib Mahfouz, Youssef Zidan and other experienced authors over the work of young novelists, then Dar El-Shorouk is definitely your place — you’ll find dozens of old gems and modern masterpieces there. To reach it easily, make sure you step into the fair from Mamdoh Salem’s gate, and you’ll find Dar El-Shorouk’s spot located on your left.


2- The AUC Press

The AUC Press’ tent in the Cairo International Book Fair is the ultimate destination for all lovers of original English books. They annually exhibit their abundant English productions that’ll surely encompass all your interests, whether you’re seeking academic books, English novels or even translated Egyptian writings. So if Arabic content isn’t your cup of tea, make sure to pay The AUC Press a visit. They’re located right behind Dar El-Shorouk.

Stopping by the booths of various publishers isn’t the sole way to buy your favorite books anymore, thanks to ALEF Bookstore who gathers the crisp releases of all the publishers to facilitate your experience in the fair. ALEF also offers its customers a 25% discount during their lucky hours and 20% off the purchases exceeding 200 EGP. They’re located near Salah Salem’s gate, just a 5 minute walk from the entrance.


4- The Foreign Sections

On an annual basis, the Cairo International Book Fair offers its visitors a once-in-a-year opportunity to experience foreign writings that aren’t normally obtainable. Every year, the organizers allocate entire halls where German, Italian and other nations’ productions are up for grabs. So if you’re aiming for foreign books, make sure you use Ismail El Fangary’s gate as your entrance to reach these halls within minutes.

Once you’re there, you’ll stumble upon a good deal of renowned oldies as well as many rare volumes with prices starting from 4 EGP, so regardless of your budget, El Ozbakeya would always be the reliable solution.
