9 Restaurants That Serve Fondue In Egypt
It’s cold out, so what’s better than a pot of bubbling melted cheese? Or better yet, a pot of bubbling melted chocolate? For some reason fondue isn’t as embraced as it should be in Egypt, and fondue places are few and far in between. But here are some of our favorites.
1. La Chesa
La Chesa is one of the four sister restaurants of Swiss Restaurants, a company that opened in 1976. It’s a Downtown classic on Adly street.
2. Swiss Cottage
Location: Degla, Maadi
We’re still unclear if this is the same restaurant as the old Maadi favorite, Little Swiss, but under a different name. Types of fondue they offer: Swiss cheese, salami cheese, tomato cheese, vegetable cheese, Swiss mushroom cheese and Swiss chocolate.
3. Chuchichäschtli – Swiss House
Location: El Gouna
Next time you’re in Gouna, this place is a must-try if you’re a fondue aficionado. Check out our other favorite Gouna restaurants here.
4. Le Chantilly
Location: Korba, Heliopolis
What Helio resident doesn’t know and love Le Chantilly? It’s a Korba classic.
5. 7th Star
Location: El Gouna
7th Star has an eclectic menu, and surprisingly fondue made the cut. They have cheese fondue, chicken fondue, beef fondue, and Chinese fondue (not quite sure what that is).
6. Le Chalet & Le Chateau
Le Chalet and Le Chateau are two separate restaurants, but in the same building. Le Chalet is the more casual counterpart, and has seen better days. Le Chateau is dated and faded as well but the fondue continues to be the star.
Chocolate Fondue Only:
Chocolate fondue served with strawberries, apples, melon and pieces of brownie, kept warm with a candle.
Location: Cairo Festival City, New Cairo
Offers all sorts of dippers for their chocolate fondue.
9. Brew & Chew
Location: Maadi and Alexandria
Available in milk, white and dark chocolate, and you can pick your sides.
