Here’s the perfect guide to some of the best meals from several of Alexandria’s most popular restaurants.
Grandpa Burger from Holmes
Holmes are famous for their delicious burgers, but the Grandpa Burger in particular is the real deal. If you’re all about greasy and oil-dripping burgers, then you’re in for a treat. You get two burger patties topped with barbeque sauce, fried onions, cheese sauce, and fried mozzarella sticks. And let’s not forget to mention their amazing, mouth-watering cheesy fries.

Price range: 80-100 EGP
Kebdet El Falah
You often see this place in your friends’ Instagram stories whenever they visit Alexandria, and you probably wonder where this place is. Well, it’s Kebdet El Falah, located at Al Raml Station. It’s not the fanciest place you’ll visit and it’s definitely not the place for your germaphobe friends. However, it serves the best liver sandwiches in Alexandria. The small sandwich is just 3 EGP, so you can have as many sandwiches as you like and still pay a lot less than you would at other places. Don’t be surprised when you hear people there ordering double-digit figures that can go as high as 80 or 90 sandwiches. Trust me, they’re worth it.
Address: Safia Zaghloul Street, beside Metro Cinema.
Price range: 3 EGP per small sandwich (The average person eats about 8-10 sandwiches, so you can expect to pay 24-30 EGP or even higher, depending on your appetite and your stomach’s status).
Crispy Chicken meal from Soori
If you’ve lived in Saudi Arabia before, you’d know just what the word “Al Baik” means. That place probably serves the best fried chicken in the Middle East. Soori though, who specialize in Syrian food, have this crispy chicken meal that gives you four pieces of boneless fried chicken accompanied with fries, thyme, bread, and pickles. Now we’re not comparing it with Al Baik because we know nothing will top them, but it will remind you of the good old days. It’s also served at a very reasonable price compared to the outrageous prices you see these days.

El Mosheer Street,

Grilled Chicken/Meat Kebab meal from Sultan Ayub
Often criticized for their poor-tasting shawerma, Sultan Ayub have been somewhat inconsistent with the quality of their meals. However, they’ve got a hidden gem that not many people know about and we’re here to bring light to it. Their meat and chicken kebab meals are some of the most properly cooked meals you’ll eat in Alexandria. For a very reasonable price, you get three pieces of chicken/meat kebab (depending on your choice), Biryani rice or French fries (but we highly recommend trying out their amazing Biryani rice), thyme, and pickles. It’s definitely one to try out!

San Stefan Grand Plaza Mall

Beef/Chicken Shawerma from Khawater Demashkeya
We couldn’t really end this without recommending a shawerma joint. We all love and appreciate this combination of chicken, fries and pickles. It’s a formula that looks so simple but one that’s hard to perfectly execute. Khawater Demashkeya is definitely your go-to place for anything involving shawerma, whether it’s a sandwich, platter, fattah or crepe.
Ademon Fremon Street,
